Lavender

In addition to its wonderful aroma, lavender has many healing properties, known since the ancient times. That’s why we present to you 5 health benefits. 1) Lavender reduces dandruff. Using lavender both in essential oil and beverage form helps in the proper balance of the scalp and in the treatment of such annoying dandruff in the hair. Βoil some water and add fresh or dried lavender flowers (about one to two tablespoons) for about 5-10 minutes. Then leave it on your hair for about 10 minutes! Additionally, lavender shampoos regenerate and nourish the hair. 2) Lavender treats stomach bloating and indigestion. Lavender tea soothes stomach ache as it contains polyphenols (a type of antioxidants), which reduce the levels of “bad” bacteria in our stomach making us feel much lighter and significantly reducing the annoying stomach bloating. 3) Lavender relieves itching from insect bites or other skin problems such as dry eczema, cuts and abrasions. Its essential oil has an anti-irritant effect, which is why it is used for the healing of eczema. At the same time, its strong antimicrobial action makes it ideal for healing small wounds, cuts and abrasions. At the same time it helps to “clean” the skin in cases of acne, eczema and skin diseases. Lavender essential oil will help people with sensitive skin and people who often suffer from itching or insect bites (mosquitoes)! You can make a mixture with a little water and 5-6 drops of essential oil and smear on the area with it! 4) Lavender fights colds and coughs. Put 1 liter of water to boil in a small saucepan and pour 3 tablespoons of fresh or dried lavender flower and 1 tablespoon of eucalyptus. Once water starts boiling, stand over the pot and take deeper and longer breaths! Breathing the steam of a mixture from lavender and eucalyptus is really beneficial! 5) Lavender is used for headache relief as well as against stress and tension. Lavender is considered by many herbalists to be suitable for the treatment of nervous headaches, migraines and tension. Prepare a relaxing bath and immerse yourself in the hot water of your bathtub, adding at first about 30 drops of lavender essential oil. Enjoy it as long as you can and when you come out you will really feel like a different person! If you do not have the luxury of time for this relaxing bath, massage with a few drops of lavender on the temples, the neck and the forehead area between the eyebrows.
